At least 15 MB available RAM and 6 MB hard disk space are needed for installation.
Macintosh OS 8.1 or later is supported; Macintosh OS 8.5.1 or later is recommended for best performance.
(Although unsupported, Macintosh OS 7.5.1 or later may be usable, provided that Appearance Extension 1.0.1 or later, Sound Manager 3.2 or later and SCSI Manager 4.3 or later also are installed.)

Important: disable all non-Apple Extensions and Control Panels, and restart your computer before installing.
Depending on how it was obtained (Internet or registered copy), "Mac the Scope™ Installer" supports one or two different types of installations.
• The "Mac the Scope™ Installer" supplied with registered copies of the software only supports new installations, and must be launched from the original media (floppy disk or CD-ROM).
• The "Mac the Scope™ Installer" obtained from the Internet supports Demonstration version and Update (of version 2.0.x and later) installations. Please contact us for an Update Key file, if you have paid for an update to Version 2.0, and wish to update to 2.7. If you are updating or installing a registered copy of Mac the Scope, and previously have installed the Demo version, move the Mac the Scope 2.7 Preferences file (System Folder:Preferences Folder) to the Trash before proceeding.
Update: ("Mac the Scope™ Installer" obtained from Internet)
If you wish to retain program settings from a copy of Mac the Scope earlier than 2.7, make a copy of the "Mac the Scope™ Preferences" file (inside the Preferences folder of the System Folder on the startup drive), and rename the copy to "Mac the Scope™ 2.7 Preferences". If updating from from Mac the Scope 2.7 or later, program settings automatically will be preserved.
A. Insert the original installation disk or CD-ROM in the computer.
B. Drag and drop the installation disk or CD-ROM icon onto the "Mac the Scope™ Installer" application icon on your hard disk. Follow the instructions that appear.
C. After the Installer quits, launch the newly - installed "Mac the Scope™" application. When prompted, enter the registration number from the installation package. The correct number will be recognized as soon as it's typed in (do not press 'return' or 'enter'), and you will be prompted to quit. Another dialog box then will appear, confirming installation.
Question: When I launch the installed copy of Mac the Scope, I get a message that the ColorPickerLib is not installed, and Mac the Scope immediately quits.
Solution: ColorPickerLib automatically is loaded by the Color Picker Extension, which is part of the Mac OS. If the message described above appears, the Extension has been disabled by overriding the default settings of the Extension Manager (or other similar third-party) Control Panel. Re-enable the Color Picker Extension and restart the computer. This extension is used by Mac the Scope to permit setting application color preferences. Note - Color Picker may be named differently on computers with non-English versions of the Macintosh Operating System.
Question (updates only): When trying to update an earlier version of Mac the Scope, when I drag the original install disk icon to the new Installer application, it does not launch, but simply copies the contents of the install disk to the hard drive.
Solution: Restart your computer, after disabling any non-Apple Extensions, Control Panels and startup applications. If the problem persists, restart the computer while holding down the Shift key. A message will appear while starting up, confirming that all Extensions have been disabled. Then, proceed with installation as above. Note that this may cause the above mentioned problem to occur; if so, restart the computer normally (without holding the Shift key), and repeat step C of the update installation.
